Volunteer

Volunteers are an essential part of the services we provide. Without volunteers, our Meals on Wheels program would cease to exist, and hundreds of Denton County senior citizens would suffer from food insecurity. Volunteers are truly the lifeline of our nutrition program’s mission to enable our clients to live as fully and independently as possible. Last year our volunteers served more than 76,000 meals to homebound individuals.

Whether you have only a few hours one day per week or can volunteer every day your assistance is much needed! New volunteers will need to download, complete, and return the volunteer application found on the website!

Span recognizes our volunteers each year in appreciation of their hard work and loyalty to the organization. This year’s volunteer appreciation celebration was held at Dogwood Estates on May 15th, 2014. Dogwood was kind enough to provide room, necessary materials, and delicious food. With 40+ volunteers and five board members in attendance, it was a lovely affair. Each volunteer received a gift and an appreciation certificate. The event was well received and enjoyed.

We would like to take a moment to thank our volunteers again for everything you do, and everything you mean to both our clients and our organization. Thank you! We look forward to another year of service, and next year’s celebration!
